Samurai Artist Kamui

Hakone

At the luxurious Ryuguden ryokan, situated on the shores of Lake Ashinoko in Hakone, you can watch a private performance by the esteemed artist group Kengishu Kamui. Led by Tetsuro Shimaguchi—who instructed choreography and sword fighting on the set of Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill Vol. 1”—this group of samurai artists is dedicated to advancing the global appreciation of the cultural and artistic expression of samurai.

After the performance, you will also have an exclusive, hands-on lesson with swords guided by the samurai performers. This tour also includes an overnight stay at Ryuguden, so you won’t have to travel far after the performance to relax in your lakeside room. And of course, there are also onsen hot spring baths.

Hakone Connection

Hakone

Hakone is a popular tourist spot known for its close proximity to Tokyo, ample ryokan and onsen hot springs, and stunning views of Mt. Fuji when the weather is right. But if you want to avoid the crowds typical of this bustling tourist spot, this is the tour for you.

In this half-day hiking tour, an AT-certified outdoor guide will take you along parts of the Old Tokaido Trail, a something-kilometer stone-paved path frequented in the Edo Period. Not many frequent this path, making it a tranquil way to see what Hakone has to offer.

Along the way, your guide will take you to a Hakone yosegi woodcraft workshop, a local soba shop, and a 400-year- old rest stop called Amazakechaya headed by its 13th- generation owner. You’ll leave this tour having connected not only with the nature of Hakone but with the residents of Hakone as well.

The Geisha of Hakone

Hakone

Kyoto isn’t the only place to see a private geisha performance. Hakone Geisha have been active since (period) and are still performing to this day. You can enjoy a private geisha performance by the group at the accommodation of your choosing with time extensions available. Along with a traditional song and dance performance, there is time to interact with geisha directly to enjoy conversation and games.
