Ginza

Ginza

Ginza is a shopping area targeted toward high end goods, restaurants, and entertainment. It has one of the most expensive real estate in Japan. There you can find mostly every leading brand name cosmetics and fashion. In the Edo Period (1603-1687), Ginza was the place that the silver coin mint was made. After the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, the district evolved to what it is today. There are many department stores and shopping malls located in the area. Aside from shopping and dining it is also where the Kabukiza Theater resides. It is one of the best places to watch Kabuki (traditional Japanese theater) plays and has daily performances available. The clock tower of the Ginza Wako building is iconic of the area and inside there you will find luxury items being sold.
