From our very first contact with All Japan Tours everything we asked was answered quickly and efficiently. Time allotted at each attraction was well thought out and Billy our guide was open to changing it if the group felt differently. We appreciated that there was never a planned shopping destination although free time was available for those looking for that perfect souvenir. All of the hotel accommodations were excellent. Our guide Billy was also excellent.

Private Tour 0411

4/11/2026 - 4/22/2026 / 2026-04-11

The Ortabas Family

All in all good choices of what to see, although I could have skipped Osaka. However, the guide on the canal tour was hilarious. I didn't understand much of what she said, but she was very entertaining. Our guides were very solicitous. Hitomi advised the other guides to look for escalators and elevators as we navigated the transportation system. I really appreciated that since I have had 3 knee surgeries. Having private guides really eased our way and I believe we saw more than what we would have seen on our own. Hats off to Hitomi, Taka and Hamish!

Best of Japan Tour (Reverse): Cherrry Blossoms

4/10/2026 - 4/19/2026 / 2026-04-10

The tour was good. We saw many things and places. We enjoyed Nara. It was a nice to walk around the park and see the deer and enjoyed the local food. We liked riding the bullet train but would have liked to ride it longer. We were not able to go to the 5th station due to a rockslide, but they took us to a small town with a good view of Mt Fuji. The castle and shrines were interesting. We liked Himeji Castle and Kurashiki. Oboke Gorge was a nice boat ride with great scenery but too short. It took 2 hours to get there for a 20-minute ride. It was nice to see the Sagano Bamboo forest and the town surrounding it. It was interesting to find out the history of Hiroshima and visiting the Peace memorial park. We enjoyed Miyajima as well. We liked the Tsukiji Outer market but could not enjoy it more fully and eat more because we went next to the Sushi making class next and lunch.

We had an incredible experience with All Japan Tours and feel very grateful for the care and integrity with which our tour was honoured — especially given the unique circumstances of us being the only travellers for the first week, along with the fuel constraints at the time. This level of commitment did not go unnoticed and felt like a real act of generosity. Our time with Billy-san, Lynn-san and our drivers was truly special. They were thoughtful, considerate, and deeply knowledgeable. We particularly appreciated how they prepared us to be respectful and mindful visitors in Japan — this added a layer of cultural depth that made the experience even more meaningful. The itinerary itself was exceptional in both its breadth and depth. From the historic and iconic sites such as Himeji Castle and Miyajima, to the more reflective and spiritual experiences — including Koyasan, temple lodging, meditation with monks, and walking sections of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail — we felt we were being gently guided into many different dimensions of Japanese life and history . The food throughout the tour was outstanding and thoughtfully catered to our dietary requirements, which we deeply appreciated. The activities included were equally memorable — from the tea ceremony and time with a Maiko, to the sushi-making experience and opportunities to connect more personally with Japanese culture and traditions. These experiences felt immersive rather than performative, and that meant a great deal to us. There were many highlights, including the spa hotels in Nagano and on Nakanoshima Island, which were peaceful, restorative, and beautifully curated. The variation across the journey — from pilgrimage trails and mountain temples, to gardens, festivals, and vibrant cities like Kyoto and Tokyo — created a wonderful rhythm and sense of unfolding discovery. We also loved the Takayama Spring Festival and the way the itinerary allowed us to experience both seasonal beauty (cherry blossoms) and living traditions . Overall, everything was seamless, enriching, and thoughtfully organised. We felt very well looked after throughout and cannot speak highly enough of the entire experience — the guides, the drivers, and the All Japan Tours team. This journey felt less like a tour and more like a thoughtful introduction into the heart of Japan — its culture, its history, and its ways of being.
