We had a super time and saw so much! Both guides, Kim and Billy were great. Billy gave us so much information, whether about the destinations, history, folklore, daily life and personal anecdotes, that the longer journeys passed more easily. They were both very patient (when people ran late) and solicitous of everyone in the group, and also gave us important practical advice and information (such as toilet locations, shopping centres etc). The only remark we would make is that whereas the first bus had wi-fi, charging points and a toilet, the second bus looked rather old and had none of these facilities, which are very useful when you are travelling for many hours. Our first driver was excellent, very smooth, and took enormous pride in the cleanliness of his bus, polishing the gleaming hub caps every day! Accommodation was varied, which made the experience interesting. Breakfast was always excellent.

Our 15 day Autumn Leaves Tour exceeded our expectations beautiful hotels and locations with very knowledgeable guides. We really find it hard to pick our favorite stop we we're extremely happy with everything on Shikoku Pilgrimage and Kii peninsula. Great tour from start to finish! Kiyoshi helped us put together an excellent itinerary for our private 2 week tour for 3 couples that included seats at the Kyoto Jidai Festival, a highlight of our trip. We had spoken to several other tour companies and none new about the festival or that it would be taking place when we were in Japan. This was one of many reasons we went with AJT. Justin was great at helping us finalize all of our trip details. All of the logistics of the trip went off without a hitch, from airport pickup, to luggage transfers, drivers and guides, everything went smoothly. The tour was a very nice mix of sight seeing and fun activities. Our guides, Mr. Fukui in Kyoto and Mr. Ken in Tokyo, , were terrific. They were both extremely knowledgeable, interesting, friendly and enthusiastic and took excellent care of us. Thank you AJT for a wonderful trip.

Overall we loved the tour. We would have enjoyed more walking, and found one day (Yoshino) had a lot of travel and little walking. The stay at a minshuku was the least comfortable, but the food was good. Every meal was great except at the Ginza (first meal), the tempura was disappointing.

A great introduction to Japan with lots of highlights. Maybe a bit temple-heavy, but a lot was packed in. Hotels were all decent, the driver and guide were excellent. Maybe a little more Tokyo time would have been nice but the tour was very much a Japan sampler and was enjoyable.
