AJT did an incredible job creating an itinerary that highlighted the best of Japan while also giving us time to explore and enjoy at our own pace. The attention to detail with accommodations, meals, transportation, and pacing made everything effortless so all we had to do was soak in the experience. This was truly the trip of a lifetime. I came home with unforgettable memories, a deeper appreciation for Japan, and so much gratitude for AJT, Miyuki, and Katsumi for making it all possible. Planning a multi-city Japan adventure can feel like trying to solve a Sudoku on a speeding Shinkansen, but AJT made every piece click perfectly. From start to finish, our trip was seamless. I am already making plans for a family trip to Japan (this was a girl's trip) and will definitely still do it through AJT. Hotels: Every property was a winner, well located, spotless, and full of thoughtful touches that made us feel spoiled. Hakone especially was just incredible but honestly all places they booked for us were great. Directions & Logistics: The itinerary was like a cheat- code for Japan. I especially loved the AJT handbook we received before the trip, which not only mapped out logistics but also educated us on cultural nuances and things to know about Japan. It was invaluable and made us feel confident and prepared. Support: AJT were wonderfully responsive in the run-up to the trip, answering our many questions with care, patience, and grace. Guides: Miyuki in Hakone and Katsumi in Kyoto were absolute gems. Knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely fun to spend the day with. Katsumi was like a walking talking history book and we loved learning about Japan and teaching him about our home country. The result was a trip that felt effortless, immersive, and unforgettable. If you are dreaming of Japan and want all the adventure without the planning panic, AJT is the travel partner you need. I would recommend them without hesitation! We throughly enjoyed our tour, Kim was the best tour guide ever! We have been telling friends and family about how wonderful our tour was. Our two favorite things were the snow monkeys and Hiroshima. Kim was very good at answers any questions we had, she went out of her way to do anything she could to accommodate us.

The trip to the Tohoku area of Japan was wonderful, in that we did a lot of arts and crafts indicative to the area we were visiting. I enjoyed making the stuffed mouse, Kirigami class, taiko class on Sado Island, painting the kokeshi doll, grilling the sembei and the bonsai class. The tea and luncheon with the maikos was nice and the j-pop show was fun! The tour guide Miharu was terrific in explaining the history and customs of the places we were visiting and her charts and posters were great in illustrating what she was talking about. Yun our driver was very respectful and a very good driver for the tour bus. We felt safe in his care! Micki our friend and tour guide helper was great in giving good suggestions and helped us find great restaurants and places to buy stuff. The accommodations were great and the hotel on Sonai was very interesting. The onsens were great on Sado island and in sonai. The food was fantastic and so fresh. All in all, it was a very memorable and fun trip. Thank you!

However, every effort was made to ensure our dietary needs were met, and our tour guide went above and beyond to make it right for us, his dedication was truly commendable. From the perspective of others in our group, the meals were a delightful fusion of traditional Japanese flavors and modern presentation, offering an authentic and memorable culinary experience.
** Tour Guide: A Standout Star Our guide was, without question, one of the most knowledgeable, experienced, and engaging professionals I’ve ever encountered. Their deep understanding of Japan’s history, culture, and customs added immense value to every site we visited. As this was my family's first trip to Japan, it was probably the best decision I made to sign-up for the Best of Japan Tour as it took all the guesswork, logistics, planning, booking out of the picture. All we needed to do was to show up at the set times and be shuttled in comfort to the all the major tourist spots, having time to shop, explore, and eat. Our guide, Billy, did a great job preparing us for each of the locations we'd be visiting, providing historical context or perhaps cultural guidelines on what to expect (how to make and eat sushi or how to enjoy the onsen, etc.). He also made sure that everyone's dietary preferences were accounted for. Our driver, Mr. Aizawa, greeted us warmly every time we boarded and departed, skillfully maneuvered the massive motor coach swiftly to each location, took care of our luggage, and went to great lengths to ensure our comfort. We made new friends with the other tour members as we got to explore Japan together. Just expect a large mass of tourists at the major attractions and depending on the time of year, brutal heat and humidity. All in all, this was a priceless, memorable experience, and my family is already looking forward to returning. Thank you AJT!

To AJT – First, I want to apologize it took so long to write you a review. Unfortunately, the day we returned home from our trip our dad passed away that night therefore things have been rather busy. My brother and I had an amazing time. Booking through AJT truly made our experience so easy and stress free. The instructions we received were very clear and easy to follow. Prior to the trip it was always easy to email and have any questions answered as well. From the moment we landed things went very smoothly the person was easy to spot that picked us up and was so helpful and friendly. I’m glad we decided to arrive a day early before the tour, while it was an adventure for us not knowing anything (no being there before) it was a great learning experience to do it on our own. Our second day there, which was the first day of our tour we met Ken our guide. He was very nice, very knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be around! Also, another note was my brother and I very much appreciated the small group (6 of us total). We saw many other groups throughout our stay and we were so grateful we weren’t apart of a big bus group. It made things so much more intimate and we enjoyed the company of the people that were with us! I can’t even express how much fun we had, all I can say is we can’t wait to come back and do it again! My brother and I are planning on returning to Japan in 2028 for the Cherry Blossoms and we are excited to look at another tour group package for part of our stay. We liked how we had so many days to explore and see things by guided tour and then we had days after on our own to go out and explore things we wanted to spend more time at. It really worked out perfectly. That brings me to another point AJT made our stay so easy by booking our hotels for extra days. We transitioned to different hotels so flawlessly. Our tour ended in Osaka we stayed an extra night then we took the Shinkansen back to Tokyo. Ken was so helpful and made sure we bought our tickets correctly to get back to Tokyo prior to us saying goodbye from the tour.
